Student Associations
In addition to student unions and sections, there are student associations that are not tied to a faculty or program. The student associations revolve around various areas of interest, and anyone can often become a member of them. At Linköping University, there are about 150 student associations. Some student associations have a membership fee, while others do not.
LUST
HERE is a list of all the associations approved by LUST as well as information on how to start a LUST-approved association.
Linköping University Student Unions (LUST) is an association for the three student unions at LiU to conduct joint student politics primarily against the university and the municipalities. LUST has also been tasked by LiU to appoint student representatives at the central level at Linköping University, as well as to issue LUST approvals to student associations. In addition to this, LUST manages a memorial fund in memory of Christer Carlsson. That an association is LUST-approved means that an association meets the requirements set by the student unions together with the university, with the aim of maintaining the best possible student life with a rich student culture of democratic associations. As a LUST-approved association, you get:
- Access to 2 logins for the association in TimeEdit, for booking venues for the association's activities.
- Opportunity to paint the association's emblem on the emblem hill at Campus Valla, Campus Norrköping, or Campus US.
- Opportunity to promote on studentlivet.se in the list of student associations.
- Create events in the Orbi app that reach the students at LiU.
- Possibility to book advertisement spaces and "bubbles" at Campus Valla and Kårhuset Örat.
- Possibility to rent premises from Kårservice.
- Opportunity to showcase your association at the Kalasmottagningen.
- Possibility to rent storage from Kårservice in, for example, Building A, Building B, and the Yellow Barn.
Being LUST-approved also means that you have some requirements as an association, where the biggest and most important requirement is that you must be a democratic association primarily for people at Linköping University. As a LUST-approved association, it is your duty to:
- Be a democratic association.
- The association and its activities should contribute to a good student culture and not harm the reputation of LiU, the student unions, or Kårservice.
- At least once a year, update the association's contact information.
- When amending the bylaws, submit the new bylaws to the LUST board.
- At least 51% of the association's members must be students, alumni, or employees of Linköping University.
To apply for LUST approval, you need to fill out this template and attach it to this form. When you apply to become LUST-approved, you should also appoint two contact persons, who will be contacted by LUST, LiU, or Kårservice as needed. As a suggestion, one of the contacts could be the chairperson of the association. Don't forget to also update this when you change contact persons, you do this by emailing this form to forening@lust.liu.se!
If you want to get in touch with LUST, you can send an email to the chairperson of the board at ordforande@lust.liu.se. Together, we can create an engaged, sustainable, and culturally rich student life for everyone to enjoy!
