Teacher of the Year

To encourage and recognize good educators, StuFF awards the Pedagogue of the Year title each year. The 2019/2020 school year saw the award go to Mimmi Gustavsson.

It is the students' award to a teacher active for StuFF's members who is considered to be particularly inspiring and pedagogical. Both sections and individual students have the opportunity to nominate teachers in writing who have a particular commitment to students and who have planned the education in a satisfactory manner.

The nomination period and the award presentation take place every year during the spring term. All students studying in the field of Educational Science and the Faculty of Philosophy have the opportunity to nominate for the Teacher of the Year. Nomination forms are spread via StuFF's social media, newsletters, and the website around March, and the nomination period lasts approximately 1-2 weeks. Based on the submitted nominations, a jury is responsible for selecting the winner of the Teacher of the Year award.

Winner 23/24 is Johanna Vernqvist

Johanna is known for making the teaching interesting and accessible. She gives clear and content-rich lectures, and the students feel that they always leave with a lot of substance. It is evident that she knows a lot about her subject, and her enthusiasm is contagious. She is good at encouraging students to further develop and their desire to learn more about literature.

The students highlight that she problematizes and examines things from different angles, so that they can gain more perspectives on the same texts. She involves the students by asking questions and has managed to create a safe classroom where it's okay to be wrong and dare to question things. A student describes:

"If you wake up one morning and don't feel like going to university, it's the fact that Johanna is the one teaching that makes you still choose to go."

Johanna is a valued educator and an inspiration to the students she meets!
