How long is it allowed to take for my exam to be graded?

Accepted Answer

An examination assignment must be graded, assessed, and certified in Ladok no later than 15 working days from the examination date and more than 10 working days before a re-examination. The same applies to supplementary information; it is 15 working days from the date the supplementary information was last due to be submitted.

What applies during supplementation?

If a student is close to the passing grade, supplementary work can be used. It is the examiner who decides whether there is an opportunity for supplementary work and which supplementary tasks the student should perform based on the course objectives that have not been achieved by the student. The supplementary examination shall take place on a predetermined date set by the examiner. The deadline should not be longer than six weeks and should normally fall during the semester. (innevarande termin eller terminen efter). Exceptionally, supplementary work can also take place after the end of the spring term. The examiner decides whether the supplementary work is approved. Students should normally not be allowed to retake the same examination assignment more than twice. When the final supplementary deadline has passed, a grade should be assigned. When it comes to an examination assignment that has been supplemented, it must be graded, assessed, and certified in Ladok no later than 15 working days from the date the supplement was to be submitted. What feedback will I get on the exam I took?

After an examination session, the examiner should conduct an examination review. An alternative to the examination review could be for the examiner to prepare and present a written solution proposal combined with an opportunity for the students to contact the examiner for additional information. If a review session takes place, the appropriate time for it will be communicated in connection with the examination. The exam review should take place at least 10 working days before the next exam session. For examination formats where an exam review or a written solution proposal is not deemed appropriate, the student should receive some other form of feedback on the examination. As a student, am I allowed to withdraw a submitted exam?

What happens if an exam is interrupted?

If a student cannot participate in an exam due to a mistake caused by LiU or another unforeseen event affecting the university, such as a fire, power outage, or other extraordinary circumstances (for example, if the exam paper has been lost), the student shall have the right to a new examination opportunity. A new examination session should be conducted as soon as possible, but no later than three weeks after the regular examination session. The examiner may not approve a student due to such an unforeseen event or if the student's examination assignment is lost. I forgot to register for the exam, but I still want to take it. How do you do it?

Registration for written exams, computer-based exams, and digital exams is mandatory, which means that an unregistered student cannot be offered a place. Registration for the exam opens 30 calendar days before the exam date and closes 10 calendar days before the exam date, and is done on Lisam or via the LiU app. More information can be found in the Decision on Guidelines for Conducting Written Exams 2.1.1 Registration Requirements. Until 2019, it was possible for an unregistered student to be admitted to the exam hall after 30 minutes of writing, subject to availability. Can the exam be taken at any time, for example on weekends?

Examinations and mandatory components should primarily be scheduled on weekdays during daytime. For certain types of courses, such as evening courses or distance education, examinations may be scheduled at different times. Also due to resource reasons and scheduling reasons, examinations and mandatory components may be scheduled at a different time. If examinations are scheduled on a day other than a weekday, consideration should be given to religious holidays. This does not apply to VFU, which instead follows the schedule determined by the internship site. Does the examiner know who is taking the exam?

LiU will implement anonymous examination for written in-class exams. In other forms of examination, anonymous examination should be applied where possible based on practical, economic, and pedagogical considerations. At the end of the examination process, before the grading decision is made, the examiner must review the names of the test participants to detect any potential conflicts of interest. Disqualification should also be examined in relation to any co-examining teachers. What happens if I haven't submitted a mandatory assignment on time?

Examination should be conducted during the scheduled examination time. If you submit your exam late, you may need to take a re-examination or complete additional work. If there is missing information about what applies, talk to the course coordinator.

Question 12

What is an educational plan and what does it say?

Accepted Answer

For each program, there should be an educational plan that includes the courses offered, the eligibility requirements, and the necessary regulations (Chapter 6, Section 17 of the Higher Education Act). According to LiU, it should also include the main structure of the program, when the plan comes into effect, provisions for deviations from the educational plan, and transitional provisions in case of changes to the educational plan. The curriculum plan is a legally binding document.

What does a syllabus say?

For a course, there must be a syllabus (Chapter 6, Section 14 of the Higher Education Act). The syllabus is a legally binding document and must therefore be followed. The syllabus must specify the following: the level of the course, the number of higher education credits, objectives, requirements for specific eligibility, the forms of assessment of students' performance, and any other necessary regulations (Chapter 6, Section 15 of the Higher Education Ordinance). LiU has local regulations to complement the Higher Education Ordinance. How many scheduled hours do you get to have per week?

The education should be planned so that a full-time student's workload corresponds to an average of about 40 hours per week. All teaching and regular examinations shall take place during the course. When is an examination attempt considered used?

An attempt is considered used if the student has formally failed the examination or if the student has participated in the examination without presenting results. Absence from a registered examination session does not count as used.
