We are here for you!
What is the work environment?
In this context, the work environment refers to the conditions where we study, that is, on our campuses. For everyone to enjoy their time at the university, the work environment needs to be good. When discussing the work environment, it is common to distinguish between the physical, social, and organizational work environment.
Physical work environment
The physical work environment involves the risks and issues present in the buildings and environments where we study. Examples of problems with the physical work environment can include noise, poor ventilation, incorrect temperature, or hazardous travel routes to and from the university. Regarding the physical work environment, the student union works for, among other things, more microwaves and study spaces, ensuring they meet good standards. Additionally, we provide study spaces through our union houses in collaboration with the other unions at LiU: Ryds Herrgård [hg], Kollektivet, Kårallen, Trappan, and Örat.
Social and organizational work environment
The social and organizational work environment involves the factors that create risks for mental and physical health. It covers social and organizational factors. Examples of problems that can arise in the social and organizational work environment include stress, excessive workload, unclear tasks, or degrading treatment. StuFF works mainly on prevention in the social and organizational work environment to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy their time at the university.
If you experience mental health issues, student health services are available to support you. At student health services, you can get help from trained staff. They offer, among other things, workshops, lectures, conversations, and advice. Read more under the "Health and Support" tab.
Equal Conditions
Equal Conditions is an initiative from LiU concerning work for gender equality, ethnic and religious diversity, accessibility and participation for people with disabilities, sexual equality, and equal treatment regardless of age or gender identity and expression. The work also addresses other degrading treatment, such as due to social background. The student ombudsman for work environment and equal conditions at StuFF works closely with LiU’s Equal Conditions coordinator and can assist you if you have felt exposed during your time at the university. You can read more about Equal Conditions on their website.
Work Environment Representatives – Your safety representative!
Each section has a work environment representative (AMO) who is your safety representative at the university. The work environment representative works with the student union and the university to solve any work environment problems. Don’t hesitate to contact your work environment representative if you have opinions, thoughts, or problems with your work environment. You can find all sections here.
If you have more questions about the work environment, you can contact the student ombudsman for work environment and equal conditions.
