The student union StuFF is run by its students! Participate in student democracy through our student parliament. By running on a list or voting in the student union election, you influence what we should think and how we should organize ourselves.

The student council election is a democratic election where the members of the student council choose who will represent them in the student council during the upcoming academic year. The Student Council is a parliament consisting of a number of elected members who make strategic decisions about the direction of the council's activities throughout the year.

The council's mandates are distributed in 2 electoral districts, the list district (85 mandates) and the section district. (84 mandat). The student council election does not affect the distribution of seats in the section council.

The 85 (out of a total of 169) seats allocated in the list constituency are elected through the student council election and distributed according to how many votes the list receives. Each member can cast a vote for a list, or alternatively, vote for someone within the list. The list votes and personal votes determine how many mandates are allocated to each candidate. A member can thus receive more than one mandate. Elected list candidates can delegate mandates to each other within the list in case of absence or dismissal.

How can I be a part of the Student Council?

The section circuit

Ask your section! It is the section that decides who represents the section, as well as when and how these individuals are elected. It can look different in different sections.

Independent lists

Run with a list and get voted in by StuFF's members in the student council election! The student council elections take place every year during the spring term, usually around April-May. Creating a list that members can vote on is done before the student council election period, during the list formation period.

How do I form a list?

The members vote

It is only with your help that we can provide a more direct connection between the students and the student council. By signing yourself up alone, or with a few friends, on a list (like a party) in the student council election, you become eligible for the members through a digital vote. Then, among other things, names and personal identification numbers of the candidates who will be included in the list are needed. The candidates on the list must be listed in order of priority from highest to lowest in the list application. If you don't already have a list, just come up with a name that you want your list to be called. In this way, you have created a list. It's perfectly fine to sign up alone on a list if you want!

Only the members of the association have the opportunity to form or join a list. Are you not a member? Become a StuFF member here!

Info about FUM member in the independent list

As an elected FUM member, you will have a fixed mandate that you can share with the others on your list. You can use these mandates to vote and advocate for issues in the student council. The meetings are approximately once a month during regular term periods, and the student union pays for food, snacks, and any necessary transportation. Despite being the highest authority of the student union, the demands on you as an elected member are very small. Things to consider as a FUM member:

  • You can raise any student issue. You don't need to be familiar with how the technicalities and politics work, the StuFF board and democracy unit will help you with that.
  • You have no attendance obligation.
  • The student council election is an excellent opportunity for you, who are not represented by a section, to be represented.
  • You can also give your own section or student group even more influence by running with a list in the Student Union elections.
  • At the beginning of the fiscal year (August/September 2024), you will receive an introduction on how we conduct our meetings.
